the gospel really comes to light not in abstraction but in blood, in bruises, in the beating, in the crown of thorns, in blood dripping down a cross. That's not abstract. That's real, it's historical, and it's for you and for me. And so one of the things I find to be tragically sad, tragically sad about the emergent movement is that it actually abstracts the gospel.
